Faradun

Faradun

Faradun is an exotic land located on the southern coast of Palislantel. Arid and hostile terrain dominates the central region, gradually giving way to patches of jungle and mountains along the coast. Driven by winds from the southern oceans, Faradun's climate is uniformly hot and oppressive.

The Farad
In the ancient past sometime prior to the Armageddon Wars the people of Faradun were enslaved by a race of alien wizards. They were forced to toil deep in the earth and in darkened towers. Seldom were they allowed to see the light of day. Unable to overcome these dark wizards the people for centuries were damned to a life of servitude. They eventually adapted to their dark world.  Their eyes became sensitive to the dark corridors enabling them to see in the shadowy depths. However, their eyes no longer being accustomed to sunlight, caused them to burn and water when exposed to bright light, the mages crafted special lenses for their favored slaves or for when they needed them to work in daylight. Being so close to the wizards magical radiations caused the Farad's skin to turn an ashen gray, although they discovered this kept them from getting sunburned.

However all this changed when the Armageddon Wars engulfed the known world.  The alien mages were destroyed in the coming chaos. Their towers burned and  there magics failed. The Farad hid in the shadowy depths and when the time was right they rebelled and overthrew the few remaining masters. They knew the secret vaults and places of magic that were spared the wars of legend and used these artifacts in their own quest for power. In time they forged their own kingdom and now others would be slaves for them.

The Farad are a dark and saturnine folk of above average height, though a rare few are remarkably short. They have ashen-grey skin, stony visages, and narrow eyes as black as coals. Many will wear special goggles to protect their eyes from the sun's harsh light.

Today the Farad are an arrogant lot, obsessed with greed and money. Commerce is the kingdom's driving force. In order to stimulate trade they make every attempt to make traders come to their main port city of Tarun. Prices for food, drink and lodging are quite reasonable, tariffs and duties are minimal. Further any sort of entertainment or diversion imaginable can be arranged through the proper Farad agent of course, with the appropriate fees. Those Farad that don't feel the calling or skill for commerce and trade are no less greedy for others money. Indeed Farad Rogues are some of the most notorious thieves and assassins in the known world.
