Major Regions

The areas detailed below are considered major areas of the continent. While many people may commonly refer to The Jungles of Yin as a singular place, it is in fact a wild and varied region with different "kingdoms", races and terrain. The same can be said of The Great Northern Wilderness, while Gnolls do live there, so do Ice giants, all manner of Beast-Kindred and other beasts. The Eastern Territory is also not a "singular" land, it is made up of many different kingdoms; Avalon and Durne among others. Finally Mt. Nimro is listed as a major area because it encompasses not only the Mountain but the surrounding area as  well.

The Jungles of Yin

The Jungles of Yin cover much of the Southern Hemisphere and remain almost  entirely unexplored. It is a place of archaic religions, gods, and monstrosities of all sorts. It is a primeval land steeped in mystery and superstition.

The Land of the Damned

This is a mysterious land protected on the east by massive mountain ranges  and by sea serpent filled seas and oceans along the coast. The Sea of Despair is particularly infested by all manner of dreadful beasts. No vessel, in all of the collective memory of humankind, has ever survived passage through this sea. It is believed that the sea serpents are actually bred by the powers that rule this mysterious land. Rumors speak of the great necromancers and a place called the Iron Citadel. The Land of the Damned is believed to be inhabited by giants, ogres, trolls, dragons and all manner of evil creatures. It is said the rulers of this land have their slaves toil endlessly in great boilers, whose sole purpose is to cover the land in a black smoke that even hides the very sun itself.

The Great Northern Wilderness

The Northern Wilderness is a great expanse of forest. The Wilderness has only recently become the target of human settlement. Most of the wilderness remains unexplored by humans as well as other races. It is said to harbor all manner of races and creatures unknown to other lands. Gnolls are said to reside here in vast numbers, particularly to the east.

The Eastern Territory

This is a large land area dominated by humans, elves and dwarves with a fair number of gnomes and halflings as well. It is the fastest growing area with new kingdoms, cities, towns and villages dotting the countryside. Although much of it remains unpopulated, it is apparently becoming the new dominion of man. Within a few centuries it is likely to be the greatest of all human (and their allies) kingdoms. The land itself is a blend of rolling hills, grasslands, and forest broken occasionally by farmlands and new villages. The Eastern Territory is perhaps the greatest existing sea power, rivaled only by the Western Empire. Their seaports dot the coastline, while some of the largest and most powerful eastern cities tower above the sea.

Mount Nimro

Also known as the Land of the Giants, the Mount Nimro area is dominated by fire giants, ogres, trolls, and other giants. The largest known communities of giants exist here hoping to build a power base in which they may seize control of the Old Lands. The terrain is harsh, hot, and rocky with thin jungles and tall grasslands.

The Old Lands

Once the proud domain of elf and dwarf it is now populated and controlled by  the goblin races (orcs, goblins, and hobgoblins). It is a warm, humid land with sprawling plains, deserts, marsh lands, subtropical forests to the south, and  rolling hills, lush lowlands, and scattered forests to the north and east. The Old Lands is the stronghold of the non-human races. Numerous tribes and villages of orcs, goblins, and hobgoblins are found throughout the territory. Ironically, no elves inhabit any region of their old domain. Humans have established a few outposts but have found the numerous hostile peoples too much to deal with at this time.

Timiro Kingdom

This is one of the human's oldest southeastern kingdoms rich with merchants and paraphernalia from across the world. It is the greatest, largest, and richest of the independent human kingdoms. Its greatest woe is the numerous wandering tribes of ogres who continually lay waste to border towns and interrupt trade between the Old Lands and the Eastern Territory. The ogres inhabit the mountains, which border the Timiro Kingdom providing them with easily defended land. Another potential problem, though they would never admit it, is the kingdom's reliance on large numbers of orc slaves. Timiro has a frightening number of these humanoids in chains working at manual labor across the kingdom. If there were ever a massive revolt by these beings, The grand Timiro Kingdom might become a legend of the past.

The Wastelands of Baalaam

A terrain of rocky lowlands, parched earth, and deserts; The Wastelands of Baalaam are another non-human dominated land. Though many claim it is the Beast-Kindred and not the Goblinoids that truly dominate these wastes.Formerly  the center of power for a great empire, the entire land was devastated by the Armageddon Wars now it is a savage, desolate wasteland. Myth has it that the wastelands were once a magnificent rain forest laid to waste during those conflicts from so long ago.

The Western Empire

This is the oldest of human held territories. A land of a thousand cities it  had fallen into decadence and inner skirmishes between city-states. At one point the entire society seemed on the verge of total collapse with rampant  atrocities, fanatical religious cults, thieving, murder, assassination,  corruption, and general social/political decay. It was Emperor Leopold the First with his legions from the east, armed with weapons of lightening and counciled by the cyclops, that conquered the crumbling cities. The following generations of emperors continued to rout evil malignancies from the land reuniting the city-states as the Western Empire.

Again the spires of her cities gleam in the sun, feared and respected as the world's leading power. The Western Empire is the throne of human civilization and has become increasing militaristic in recent years, building both its fleet and army. Young Lord Itomas speaks boldly of global conquest and is rumored to have struck a bargain with the cyclops just as did his forefathers so many generations ago.

The Western Empire is still plagued by corruption as well as many horrendous cults. Many cities are ruled or controlled by powerful thieves' guilds, wizards or assassin societies. The people of the eastern Territory call it the Empire of Sin.
